KC Streetcar Breaks Single Day Ridership Record…Again

KANSAS CITY (June 30, 2026) – The KC Streetcar Authority announced more record-breaking ridership numbers as the FIFA Fan Festival™ at the National WWI Museum and Memorial continues into its fourth week. Since the FIFA Fan Festival™ officially opened on June 11, the KC Streetcar system has been a key transportation connection, providing convenient and frequent service for soccer fans, visitors, and Kansas Citians traveling between the Riverfront and UMKC.  Total system ridership for FIFA Fan Festival™ days between June 11 and June 28 reached 409,670 passenger trips, with an average daily ridership of 34,139 trips. These ridership counts reflect streetcar passenger trips only and do not include the “Streetcar Link” bus trips that also occurred during those days. The peak ridership day occurred on Saturday, June 27, as Algeria battled against Austria at Kansas City Stadium. On that day alone, the streetcar logged 48,260 passenger trips—making it the highest single-day ridership day in the system's history.

"We came in with a solid plan to maximize our system's capacity, and that plan is working exactly as intended—if not even better than we anticipated," said Tom Gerend, Executive Director of the KC Streetcar Authority. "Our visitors are embracing this fast, friendly, fare-free transit option to experience everything Kansas City has to offer, and we're honored to play a part in connecting them to our community."KC Streetcar service remains fare-free and accessible for all riders.
